For more than 20 years, an Enoree family shares the Christmas spirit with an animated light show.
Cody Poole hosts the light show at his parent’s property at 6264 Highway 92 in Enoree. This is the fourth year the show has been on this property.
The light show began with Poole’s late grandmother, Betty McClellion. Poole has fond memories of the time he spent with his grandmother setting up the displays.
The spectacle continues to be a family affair. Poole’s father, Joel Poole, mother, Susan Poole, and brother, Justin Poole, all help out.
To honor Grandma Betty, Poole’s neighbors, Jerry and Ashley Williams have allowed Poole to setup a Christmas display in their front yard, next door to the light show.
The light show uses more than 25,000 lights that are computer controlled in several different layouts. Viewers should tune into 97.7 FM to hear the display’s accompanying music.
“About fifty cars per night come by to view the Christmas light show,” says Poole. Designated parking is set up in the front lawn.
One of the most asked question is how much is the power bill? “There is really not that much change in our power bill. It’s that time of year where we switch from air conditioning to gas heat. Plus, we use LED lights and they are energy efficient, “says Poole.
The Poole’s do not charge for the light show, but have a donation box for those inclined to give. All donations go towards the cost accompanied with maintaining, running and improving the light show.
They also have a mailbox to send letters directly to Santa at the North Pole. You better hurry though because there are only a few days left!
The light show runs through December 26. Hours for the light show are:
• Sunday – Thursday: 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
• Friday and Saturday: 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday from 6 – 9 p.m., free popcorn and cotton candy is available. T-shirts and hoodies can also be purchased.
The Poole’s Christmas Light Show is located at 6264 Highway 92 in Enoree. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
