South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has started construction on Walnut Grove Road Bridge. The bridge is located over I-26 at mile marker 34.51, State Road 50.
Per SCDOT, construction is to correct deficiencies to the existing bridge and meet current standards. The bridge will also need to be raised to meet height requirements as the interstate below is resurfaced.
Detours are expected to be in place for two and a half months.
- I-26 westbound traffic will need to take US 221, Exit 28.
- I-26 eastbound traffic will need to take SC 146, Exit 38.
- Local traffic can take preferred route.
