The conclusion of the June 9 primary elections results in two of the races relevant to the Woodruff area headed to runoffs.
House District 35 incumbent, Rep. Bill Chumley will head to a runoff against Chris Bennett. In total, Chumley received 46% of the votes while Bennett brought in 32%, according to the unofficial results. Retired veteran Garey Collins of Simpsonville received 21% of the votes.
The winner of the District 35 runoff will face Democratic challenger Helen Pendarvis of Duncan in the general election in November.
Whitney Farr, the incumbent for Spartanburg County Council District 4, will also face Republican challenger Justin McCorkle in a runoff. Farr received 1,622 votes (or 29%) and McCorkle got 1,733 votes (or 30%), according to the unofficial results.
The other contenders for the District 4 council seat, Russell Lynch and Larry Bradley, received 24% and 16% of the votes, respectively.
A candidate had to reach the 50% threshold to win outright.
