Woodruff Police are investigating a report of shots fired that occurred on Friday night in downtown, according to Chief Greg Ryan.
Officers were called to the intersection of Main and Georgia streets at approximately 10:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting in the area. During the initial investigation, it was determined that the shots were allegedly fired as a warning into the air and not directed at anyone.
Chief Ryan said this is a very serious situation and police continue to investigate the incident in an effort to confirm the identity of the individual who fired the weapon. They face potential charges of illegally discharging a firearm among possible other charges.
Witnesses reported to police that the incident followed an altercation between two individuals at the Tap Three pub that spilled outside. Chief Ryan said they are investigating whether the two are connected.
