SLED Completed Investigation Into Death of Inmate in Laurens County Detention Center

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has completed an investigation into the death of an inmate in Lauren’s County Detention Center. A freedom of information act request has been submitted by The Woodruff Times to SLED to learn about the results of the investigation.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jarvis Johnmichael Evans, 40, of Enoree. The incident occurred after Jarvis was taken into custody on July 29 on breach of peace and resisting arrest charges. The family has obtained legal counsel, and a private investigator has uncovered disturbing information about details surrounding this incident.
