At their February meeting, the Spartanburg County School District Four Board of Directors approved approximately $111,000 to replace tile and conduct moisture mitigation at Woodruff Middle School.
The project is a continuation of upgrades that have been ongoing at the middle school and will finish the replacement of floor tile that began last summer. Much of the funding for the work will come from pandemic relief funds the district has received.
In school reports, the Board hears the following updates:
Woodruff Primary School Principal Casey Dover reported that the South Carolina Department of Education conducted classroom monitoring for all four-year-old preschool classes. The school received high marks, including a comment that the school should “expect to get calls from other programs to come and visit.”
Woodruff Elementary School Principal Ann Hodge reported a donation from Palmetto Vermiculite of $5,000 to purchase math manipulatives.
Woodruff Middle School Principal Scott Lawson recognized the girl’s basketball team for advancing to the region finals and the boy’s team for a tough loss in the semifinals. He also recognized Alissa Styles for having six of her artworks as “silver key” winners by Scholastic Arts.
Woodruff High School Principal Dr. Aaron Fulmer announced that the South Carolina Band Director Association Region Band Competition was held at the school to select the region’s best middle and high school musicians. Woodruff placed six musicians. He also noted that five students were honored with the All East Regional Scholastic Arts awards.
The school meets on the first Monday of each month at 6pm. Meetings are open to the public.
