Planning Commission Approves Rezoning

By: Jeremy Handel, Staff Writer

The Woodruff Planning Commission approved a rezoning request for a property on W. Griffith St. for the potential development of single-family homes.

The property owner requested the rezoning from R-2A single-family to R-2 single-family on the 0.59-acre property to accommodate a reduced setback for potential development. Properties under R-2A zoning require a 30-foot setback, which would be reduced to 10 feet under the R-2 zoning.

City Planning Director Brandon McMahan, AICP, said the owner is looking to subdivide the lot, and the reduced setback would allow for the potential construction of four homes as opposed to three.

The approved item will go before the Woodruff City Council for a first reading at its meeting on January 31.
