Authorities intensify efforts to locate missing woman as investigation takes a new turn.
Boiling Springs, SC – The unsettling case of Casey Young, a young woman who vanished without a trace, has taken a chilling turn as investigators arrested her boyfriend, Da’ron Collins, on charges of Grand Larceny and Obstruction of Justice. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to a missing person’s report on May 16, 2023, at 5022 Pratt Dr, Boiling Springs, SC, after Casey’s concerned grandmother revealed her failure to report to work, raising suspicions about her sudden disappearance.
According to official statements released by law enforcement, investigators interviewed Collins on May 17, 2023, in their pursuit of leads. Collins recounted a heated argument with Casey after she arrived home from work on May 15, 2023. He claimed that she subsequently took a shower and abruptly left in her car, vanishing without a trace. Collins insisted that he remained at the residence, merely packing Casey’s belongings after her departure.
Investigators managed to obtain Casey’s cell phone records, providing a vital timeline of events. The records indicated that Casey called her mother on her way home from work on May 15, 2023. Video surveillance from the neighborhood corroborated her arrival at approximately 4:50 PM that day. Troublingly, Casey’s cell phone ceased functioning soon after her arrival and had remained inactive since.
A breakthrough came when investigators received an anonymous tip on May 17, 2023, revealing the location of Casey’s car in the parking lot of the Windsor Place Apartments on Pinegate Dr., approximately 3 miles from her residence. Upon arrival, investigators discovered her vehicle hidden behind some bushes. Video footage from the apartment complex captured Casey’s car entering the parking lot around 7:34 PM on May 15, 2023. The footage showed a solitary occupant, later identified as Da’ron Collins, wiping down the car’s interior. Notably, Collins was observed wearing light green gloves. Subsequent video evidence depicted Collins disposing of items in a nearby dumpster before leaving the apartment complex. Additional footage placed him walking away from the complex, heading north on Valley Falls, and eventually approaching their residence on Hanging Rock.
Further investigation uncovered a startling revelation. It appears Collins may have intentionally left his cell phone at home while using Casey’s car, presumably to create an alibi and distance himself from leaving the vehicle at the apartment complex. Authorities also discovered that numerous videos had been manually deleted from the ADT surveillance system at the Pratt Dr. residence. Suspiciously, event logs indicated deliberate camera disconnections during critical periods.
As the search for Casey Young continues, investigators have deemed Collins a person of interest in her disappearance. After consulting with the Solicitor’s Office, law enforcement determined that sufficient probable cause existed to charge Collins with Grand Larceny and Obstruction of Justice, leading to his arrest. Meanwhile, an anonymous donor has stepped forward, offering a generous $10,000 reward for information that helps locate Casey and identifies those responsible for her disappearance.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information regarding Casey Young’s whereabouts or details pertaining to the ongoing investigation to contact Lt. Brandon Letterman at (864) 494-0644 or via email at bletterman@spartanburgcounty.org. The community’s cooperation and vigilance play a crucial role in ensuring the safe return of Casey and shedding light on this distressing mystery.
