In a brief agenda, the Woodruff City Council approved the appointment of a new ministerial recorder and two candidates for the housing authority.

Woodruff Police Chief Greg Ryan presented the request to create the position of ministerial recorder and appoint Clerk of Court Christy Snow to the position.

The new position provides the department with someone authorized to sign off on arrest and search warrants and subpoenas. The recorder will provide more efficiency for the department, which currently has to track down a judge or travel to the county courthouse to get such signatures.

In the other business item, the Council approved the appointment of Woodruff residents Robert Fowler and Amy Williams to the Housing Authority of Woodruff Board of Commissioners. The candidates were nominated by Spartanburg County and presented to the Council for approval. The Council unanimously approved the appointment, and the candidates are expected to begin their five-year term starting in August.

In business updates, City Manager Lee Bailey reported that the annual audit is expected to begin in late August, and he expects another good report this year. He also reported a positive review of the city’s Fourth of July fireworks show from the main sponsor, Woodruff Chevrolet. He expressed his gratitude to them for sponsoring the show.

Woodruff City Council meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month and are open to the public. The next meeting will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, August 29, at 5:30 p.m.
