Change Healthcare Targeted in Cybersecurity Attack: Impacts on Local Pharmacies

Multiple news outlets are reporting on a cyber attack that could affect some pharmacies. One such news source is Reuters.


Feb 21 (Reuters) – UnitedHealth Group-owned (UNH.N). Change Healthcare said on its status page that it was hit by a cyber security attack on its systems on Wednesday, saying the disruption will last at least through the day.

The Tennessee-based company, which is a national provider of healthcare cost transparency and consumer engagement solutions, said it was facing enterprise-wide connectivity issues that started at 05:05 ET (10:05 GMT).

“Once we became aware of the outside threat, in the interest of protecting our partners and patients, we took immediate action to disconnect our systems to prevent further impact,” Change Healthcare said on its status page, adding that its experts are working to address this matter.

It didn’t give more details regarding the cybersecurity issue.

Change Healthcare did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.


Feb 22 (TWT) The Woodruff Times has reached out to local pharmacies in Woodruff to assess the impact on their operations. According to reports, Woodruff Health Mart Pharmacy has not encountered any difficulties in processing payments for prescriptions amidst the incident. Conversely, Walgreens has faced sporadic issues, and CVS has reported disruptions limited to its coupon system, indicating varying degrees of impact across different service providers.
