This Black History Month, the “Woodruff Times” is proud to spotlight a special project that bridges the past with the present and paves the way for a future filled with hope, resilience, and unity. “Faith Moves 2024, 366 Day Devotional” is not just a book; it’s a testament to the power of collective wisdom, faith, and the enduring spirit of the Woodruff community. Spearheaded by distinguished alumni and their families, this devotional serves as a beacon of light, offering daily guidance and inspiration to all who embark on the journey of faith.

Dr. Iasha K. Nichols, a proud graduate of Woodruff High School Class of 1992, reflects on her journey from the halls of Woodruff to becoming a co-author in this transformative project. Her devotion, “Healing and Perseverance,” embodies the trials and triumphs that have shaped her faith. Dr. Nichols shares, “Writing has become therapeutic for me, a way to remain humble and filled with gratitude.” She emphasizes the devotional’s role in inspiring others to persevere through their struggles, echoing the powerful words from Isaiah 53:5, “By his wounds, we are healed.”

Bruce A. Nichols Jr., inspired by his wife’s passion and resilience, contributes with his piece, “What’s Most Important,” highlighting the significance of expressing oneself through faith. Darasha Singleton, drawing from her mother’s legacy and her own experiences in media, aims to provide comfort and encouragement through her devotion, “It’s Already Better.”

Katina Rice-Davis and Shawn E. Fields, both 1992 and 1989 Woodruff graduates respectively, along with Pastor Derrick D. Scurry and First Lady Marilyn Scurry, offer their unique perspectives on faith in challenging times. Their stories, along with those of Wanda Westfield, are united by a common thread: the courage to be courageous and the power of faith to transform lives.

“Faith Moves 2024” stands as a collective labor of love and faith, involving a diverse group of individuals who share their journeys to uplift and empower others. This devotional is more than just a book; it’s a daily companion for those seeking encouragement, a platform for shared experiences, and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Woodruff community and its alumni.

As we celebrate Black History Month, let us acknowledge the contributions of these authors, not just as members of the African American community, but as beacons of hope, faith, and resilience. Their stories, rooted in the rich soil of Woodruff’s legacy, continue to inspire and guide future generations towards a path of healing, perseverance, and unconditional faith.

In the words of the contributors, this project is for YOU – a source of daily inspiration and a reminder that you are never alone in your journey. The Woodruff Times extends its deepest gratitude to these authors for their invaluable contribution and invites the community to embrace the wisdom and faith shared within the pages of “Faith Moves 2024.”

Chaundra Nicole Gore is the visionary author of Faith Moves.
