Research begins with curiosity—asking questions and seeking answers. At the University of South Carolina (USC), the Office of Undergraduate Research in the Office of the Vice President for Research, plays a crucial role in guiding undergraduate students across all disciplines in their quest for knowledge.
Leading the charge is Dr. Lauren Clark, an alumna of Woodruff High School. As director, Dr. Clark leverages her experience and passion for research to help students navigate the complexities of academic inquiry. The office ensures that students have access to the resources, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to conduct meaningful research, regardless of their field of study.
Recently, Dr. Tegia Colman-Rochester, Director of the Ronald E. McNair TRIO Program, recognized Dr. Clark and Ms. Tricia Kramer, Associate Director for Assessment and Grant Management, for their outstanding support to students. Both were honored with tokens of appreciation for their exceptional presentation to the Ronald E. McNair Scholars, a group of students dedicated to advancing their research capabilities.
The scholars showcased their work during the USC Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium, organized by Dr. Clark and her team. This recognition underscores the pivotal role the Office of Undergraduate Research plays in cultivating the next generation of scholars and researchers.
