Special Clinic Brings Moms Closer to Woodruff Baseball Program

Woodruff Head Baseball Coach Wesley Brown has helped rejuvenate the Wolverines’ program in his first two seasons at the helm. Of the many reasons for that success, Brown fully integrates the community into the program and involves pillars of support from the ground up.

One group that Brown particularly wants to include is the mothers of his players.

Last month, Brown hosted the first-ever Woodruff Baseball Mom’s clinic to bring his players’ mothers closer to the program and help foster a relationship to the team that transcends the field.

Among the clinic’s offerings were guest speakers who discussed the importance of parental inclusion to support the players and coaches and the program itself at all levels. It was a highly successful event that over 30 moms attended.

Brown spoke about the importance of the event and the bridges it creates between the Woodruff baseball family, at home and on the diamond. It is an event that Brown plans to continue each year.

“This was an awesome experience to get to share the vision of Woodruff Baseball for years to come,” he said. “We had moms in attendance from the WYRA, The Druff travel program, and the High School Program. There were over 30 moms that attended. We had guest speakers such as Micah Stancil (USC Union Head Coach), John Boyce (high school baseball umpire), and myself. We discussed many topics to help moms understand their roles that would best support their son’s baseball experience. It was an amazing night and something we will do annually.”
