WOODRUFF, S.C. — Construction has begun on a new parking lot in downtown Woodruff, which will add 54 additional parking spaces for local residents and visitors. The lot, located behind the Arthur State Bank’s downtown location, will be accessible from both E. Georgia Street and E. Hayne Street.
According to city officials, the majority of the land was purchased in 2015 with the goal of expanding available parking downtown.
The new lot is expected to be completed in early spring of 2025. Consistent with the city’s longstanding policy, parking will remain free. The design also meets ADA standards, ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities. While there are no plans for installing electric vehicle charging stations at this time, city officials note that this is something they will consider in the future.
Funding for the project came from the City of Woodruff’s general fund. After reviewing three bids, the city selected a contractor with a base bid of $200,000 to complete the construction.
