No Regrets

The elderly loved one is failing fast. You have done everything to honor their wishes and be a good son, daughter, or grandchild. You ensured their medicine was taken properly, their food was delicious, they stayed hydrated, and comfortable. The end is near. They will no longer eat, drink, or speak. Hospice has been called in to help, and sadness has gripped the household.
Gone is the time for conversation to learn about the people you did not recognize in their old photographs. Gone are the opportunities to hear heartwarming stories about the crazy things they did and the moments when they were proud. Almost gone is the time you have with them before they depart this earth.
Don’t wait to be asked. Take every opportunity to share your stories. Before you know it, it will be too late to communicate your wishes and how proud of your family you have been.
