Welding is more than sparks and steel—it’s a high-demand trade shaping the future of American industry. R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center and Woodruff High School are proud to recognize senior Brayden Brown for earning 2nd place in the individual welding competition at the Spartanburg Community College (SCC) Air Force-sponsored Welding Competition.
Brayden’s outstanding performance earned him a $1,000 scholarship and $1,000 in prizes, showcasing his talent and underscoring the growing value of skilled trades. He is the son of Brandon and Brittney Brown.
In addition to Brayden’s individual success, the R.D. Anderson welding team also brought home honors, placing 2nd in the team event. The team included Johan Hernandez, Randy Chavez, Brayden Brown, Evan Dover, and Brandon Mathews—each demonstrating exceptional teamwork, craftsmanship, and dedication. They were coached by Jay Snyder, R. D. Anderson 2025 Teacher of the Year.
