The Woodruff City Council approved the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year and gave the
go-ahead for the annexation of more than 350 acres on Fountain Inn Road, for a future planned development.

City Manager Lee Bailey presented the proposed budget for 2025 – 2026, which comes in at approximately $7 million. The budget includes a 3 percent cost-of living increase for all city
employees. Also included are funds to fix up the auditorium at City Hall and add new lighting and sound to allow more events to be hosted there.

Bailey said the budget also includes the funds to add two new police officers and their vehicles and equipment, as well as a permit and business license technician and a
social media and event planning employee.

“Overall, it’s a balanced budget, but more importantly, it’s a realistic budget,” he told the council, which unanimously approved it.

The Council also approved the annexation of several parcels of land along Fountain Inn Road, Godfrey Town Road, and Phillips Road,
totaling more than 350 acres. All parcels were requested for annexation 100 percent by the owners. The entire amount of the land was then zoned for planned development, which allows for a mixture of retail, commercial, and residential in the same development.

During department reports, Bailey recognized Chuck Bobo on his retirement from the city. Bobo worked as the city building official for the last couple of years. Bailey said Bobo helped the city tremendously in the building department. Bobo told the Council he plans to stay busy “playing farmer” on his property. Bobo attended with his wife, Chris.

City council meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The meetings are open to the public, and the next meeting will be on July 29.
