For the first time in two decades, Spartanburg County voters will elect a new sheriff — a pivotal moment that has drawn a crowded and competitive field of nine candidates. With current Sheriff Chuck Wright stepping down after 20 years in office, the race is wide open and attracting significant attention across the county.
Each of the nine candidates brings a unique blend of experience, training, and vision for the future of law enforcement in Spartanburg County. Over the past several months, the candidates have actively campaigned across the county, appearing at forums, meeting with residents, sharing messages through social media, and conducting interviews on radio and television platforms.
To give voters an opportunity to hear directly from all the candidates in one setting, The Woodruff Times is partnering with SpartansFirst to present a Sheriff’s Race Town Hall on Monday, July 22, at the City of Woodruff Auditorium. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available through EventBrite.
All nine candidates have confirmed their participation in the town hall, which promises to be one of the most important pre-election events in the county. To ensure maximum accessibility, the event will be livestreamed on both The Woodruff Times and SpartansFirst Facebook pages.
This town hall offers a vital opportunity for Spartanburg County residents to evaluate the candidates, understand their priorities, and make informed decisions ahead of the election.
As the county prepares for this significant leadership transition, civic engagement will be key. The upcoming town hall aims to promote transparency, accountability, and community dialogue in one of the most closely watched races in recent local history.
