Superintendent announces open house for new high school, school board hears first reading of new policies at October meeting.
Woodruff School District Superintendent Dr. Aaron Fulmer announced to the school board that the district had finalized a date to host an open house for the new high school. The district is inviting the public to tour the new building and its accompanying facilities before it opens for school next fall.
The district is still finalizing dates and times, but the open house is expected to take place sometime in November with a dedication ceremony included.
Dr. Fulmer said the district thought it was important to give the community a chance to see what the district was able to accomplish with the bond funds and the facilities and amenities their students will have going forward.
In the only business item at this month’s meeting, the trustees heard the first reading of an item to implement several policy changes for the district. The board hears and approves new and revised policies every year, many of which result from new state legislation or reviews and changes by the state department of education.
Highlighting some of the policies this year are new policies or revisions regarding the livestreaming of board meetings, a new employee sick leave bank, retirement of professional and support staff, district fund balances, use of lifesaving medications, and more.
The policy item will return to the board for final approval at the November meeting.
