The Friends of Ambazonia, Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit advocacy organization, is working diligently to raise awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Southern Cameroons, also known as Ambazonia. The organization, made up of U.S. citizens and friends of the Ambazonian people, is rooted in Christian faith and advocates for justice, peace, freedom, and opportunity for the children and families of Ambazonia.
“Our mission is simple yet profound,” said Dr. Emmanuel Tita, President of Friends of Ambazonia, Inc. “We believe the people of Southern Cameroons deserve justice, a life of freedom, peace, opportunity, and prosperity.”
Founded on Christian principles, the organization seeks to educate the public about the region’s history and the struggles of the Ambazonian people. Southern Cameroons gained independence from the British in 1961, but the federation with The Republic of Cameroun has, according to advocates, failed.
For years, tensions have escalated in the region, resulting in displacement, violence, and widespread humanitarian concerns. Friends of Ambazonia believes that peaceful diplomacy and faith-based advocacy are key to resolving the crisis.
“The experiment to join with The Republic of Cameroun has not yielded the quality of life our people hoped for. Now is the time for the international community to recognize the opportunity for a peaceful transition and renewed self-determination,” Dr. Emmanuel Tita.
The group emphasizes that wisdom, faith, and unity among believers are vital for Ambazonia’s future. Through education, prayer, and international outreach, Friends of Ambazonia encourages churches, community groups, and humanitarian partners to join in efforts to advocate for peace and build sustainable solutions for Ambazonia.
Their vision includes helping Ambazonia build a nation, establish a government structure that is reliable, responsive, and equipped for rebuilding infrastructures and commerce—ensuring that basic needs such as healthcare, education, and safety are met for all citizens.
Despite the ongoing challenges, the organization remains steadfast in hope. “The battle has been long,” the group affirmed, “but the spirit of the Ambazonian people remains vigilant. With faith in God and collective action, peace and restoration are possible,” Dr. Emmanuel Tita.
