SC Works will host a virtual Expungement Information Session on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., offering South Carolinians an opportunity to learn how eligible criminal records may be cleared from public view.
The free session will be led by a representative from South Carolina Legal Services and conducted via Microsoft Teams. The workshop will explain the expungement process, eligibility requirements, and the specific steps individuals must take to have certain charges or convictions expunged under South Carolina law.
Expungement can play a critical role in improving access to employment, housing, education, and professional licensing. Even minor or dismissed charges can appear on background checks and create barriers long after a case is resolved. Clearing eligible records can help individuals move forward with fewer obstacles and greater economic opportunity.
