Interactive Theatre Experience Comes to Woodruff Elementary
Students at Woodruff Elementary School recently took part in an engaging, interactive learning experience as Bright Star Touring Theatre visited campus to perform an energy-efficiency program sponsored by Duke Energy.
“Pirates of the Efficient Sea” Teaches Energy Conservation
The performance, titled “Pirates of the Efficient Sea,” combined live theater, humor, and audience participation to teach students about the importance of conserving energy at home and in their communities. Through a lively pirate-themed adventure, students learned practical strategies such as turning off unused lights, saving water, and using energy wisely throughout the day.
Students Participate and Learn Through Interactive Storytelling
Actors encouraged students to participate in the story, answer questions, and think about how everyday choices can impact energy usage. The interactive format helped bring important environmental and energy concepts to life, making learning both fun and memorable.
Program Reinforces Responsibility and Environmental Awareness
School leaders said the event reinforced classroom lessons about responsibility and environmental awareness while giving students tools they can apply in real life. The program highlighted how community partnerships and creative education can inspire young learners to make small changes that lead to big results.
