WOODRUFF, S.C. — Cedar Grove Baptist Church marked a significant milestone on Sunday, March 8, celebrating its 153rd church anniversary with a day filled with worship, fellowship, and inspiring messages from guest ministers.

The celebration began with the 10 a.m. service, where Rev. Allisondra Ellis delivered a powerful message that encouraged the congregation and honored the church’s long-standing legacy of faith and service in the community.

Afternoon Anniversary Service

The anniversary program continued at the 1:30 p.m. service with guest preacher Rev. Dr. C. Dennis Rector, senior pastor of New Trinity Baptist Church, located at 1130 Old Spartanburg Highway in Lyman. Rev. Rector shared an uplifting message that reflected on God’s faithfulness throughout the church’s 153-year history.

A Meaningful Homecoming

Family, friends, and church members also celebrated the return of Deacon Veron Browning, whose presence was a meaningful highlight of the day.

“I’m still on a high from Sunday,” said Rev. Mekesha Watson. “If you know his story, then you know we serve a prayer-answering God who’s still writing his story.”

The anniversary celebration reflected not only Cedar Grove Baptist Church’s rich history but also its continued impact and strong sense of community moving forward.
