South Carolina voters are approaching critical deadlines for the 2026 primary elections, with the Democratic and Republican primaries set for Tuesday, June 9. Any necessary runoffs will be held June 23. Residents must register to vote by Sunday, May 10, with mailed applications accepted if postmarked by May 11.

Early voting runs May 26 through June 5, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at six Spartanburg County locations, including the Voter Registration and Elections Office on North Church Street, as well as library sites in Boiling Springs, Cowpens, Spartanburg, Lyman, and Woodruff.

Voters must present a valid photo ID, such as a South Carolina driver’s license, DMV-issued ID, voter registration card with photo, military ID, or U.S. passport.

Free IDs are available through local election offices.

Absentee ballot processing begins at 9 a.m. on Election Day, with provisional ballot hearings scheduled for June 11 and June 25 at the county administration building.

As of April 2026, no changes to voting laws have been enacted, making preparation essential. Voters are encouraged to reflect on issues impacting their lives, research candidates, and verify registration details at scVOTES.gov. Participation in local and statewide elections plays a direct role in shaping the future of Spartanburg County and South Carolina.
