Wiffleball Tournament

Wiffle Ball Tournament Bringing Teams from Across South Carolina to Woodruff (written by Garrett Mitchell)
An elite wiffle ball tournament is set to bring teams from across the Palmetto State to Woodruff. Taking place on March 23 at McKinney Park, the tournament will feature competitive wiffle ball, food vendors, and musical entertainment.
Organized by Johnathan Finley, who runs the Woodruff Wiffle Ball League, the tournament aims to bring visitors and business to local vendors and restaurants.
“This tournament honestly came together quickly,” explained Finley. “We just participated in The Wiffle Bowl down in Trenton, SC, so we wanted to try and keep our goal for 2024 and run a tournament every month or two. The city of Woodruff was all for it. Seeing the amount of people that showed up for our previous tournaments really opened their eyes.”
Finley started the Woodruff Wiffle Ball League several years ago and it has steadily grown in popularity with many teams now participating in the league. The entry fee for the tournament is $350 per team, and the winning team will take home a payout of $3,000.
Registration for teams ends on March 16 with brackets being released the following day. The opening ceremony is slated for 10 a.m. on the day of the tournament with first pitch to follow at 10:30.
Helping the local economy while promoting whiffle ball is Finley’s goal and his hope is that everyone will have a great time, including visiting teams from across the state.
“Helping bring people to the city of Woodruff is my main goal here,” he said. “When I created Woodruff Wiffle Ball League it was to create community in the area. Community as in people from different walks of life coming together, playing a competitive game that can be viewed and enjoyed by everyone. We have people from all over the state coming to Woodruff on March 23rd for wiffle ball. Who would have ever thought it? I’m extremely excited.”
Anyone interested in entering a team in the tournament can contact Finley through social media and he will be happy to answer any questions and help with the registration process.
