Obituary For Richard (Dick) Francis Prioreschi

Richard “Dick” Francis Prioreschi, a master mechanic, welder, and metallurgist known for his remarkable skill and generous spirit, passed away peacefully in Woodruff, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 2, 1937, Dick grew up with a natural curiosity and an extraordinary aptitude for understanding how things worked. He graduated from a Cleveland trade school and spent his life working as a highly respected master mechanic. Whether it was an engine, a machine, or a broken tool, Dick could diagnose and fix just about anything. His hands were always busy, his mind always working, and his talent was admired by all who knew him.

Dick is survived by his children Dale Prioreschi and Jill Prioreschi, and their spouses Therisia Johnston and Mary Scaran; his grandchildren Rayanne Prioreschi, Rachelle Prioreschi, and Steven Little; and his eight great‑grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Tom Prioreschi, his mother Alba Prioreschi, and his father Anthony Prioreschi.

Dick was a character in the truest sense—one of a kind. He was self‑taught in many areas, endlessly curious, and known for his love of reading and learning. He enjoyed helping others, often showing up with the right tool, the right know‑how, or just the right sense of humor to brighten someone’s day. His family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to cross his path will deeply miss his wit, his stories, and his unwavering willingness to lend a hand.

Dick leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, generosity, and resilience—a life well lived, and a man well loved.

He was an awesome guy. I was lucky to know him. I used to nickname him, Popeye, strongest hands on a man I've ever met, Dale and Jill, he did a good job with you too. I'm sure he's proud.

Mr P or pops as I would regard him, he was always quick with a quarter when I was a kid to play a video game or to get something out of a vending machine anytime I ran into him. I could always stop by his house cuz his garage was always open and he could fill up my tire with air. He was a unique man that spoke right off the cuff of his shoulder. What I admired about him the most was you knew exactly where you stood with him at any age and what he was tolerant of and what he wasn't. He loved animals I was always amazed at what he was tinkering on from old cars to welding machines. Huge accolades go to my brother and sister they gave him an awesome end to life most people suffer but he always had his kids in his corner you can not ask for more of an honorable way peace be with you Mr P love Dino!

One of my favorite people, think I was about 11 when I first met him in Cleveland, he was dating my sister Janet at the time. I learned so much from him especially about combustion motors. Later in life, he built engines for my race car where we competed at the famous ASCOT Speedway one of the fastest half mile dirt tracks in the country. We took on the big boys and held our own! Sure will miss him. RIP Dick, you. had one hell of a ride! God Bless. Jill/Dale thanks for all. your kindness and loving care your provided your dad.
