Cross Anchor’s local and esteemed member of Woodruff High School’s class of ’76, Isaac Ferguson Dillard, brought his talents back home to unveil his most recent audio masterpiece, ‘The Ballad Project’, amidst a packed audience at Tap Three, on Friday, April 6. Isaac was accompanied by a two-person camera crew from Franklin, TN, to capture footage of his performance for the production of a forthcoming documentary about his life. The Ballad Project was written & executive produced by Dillard himself.

Inspiring sounds filled the air as family, friends, and classmates gathered to experience the soulful melodies of this new project. Well-wishers traveled from various regions of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia to show their support. With nine mesmerizing musical creations delivered by Dillard, the listener’s attention was held until the very end.

On Sunday, April 7th, Isaac performed during morning services as the cameras continued to roll at his home church, Mt .Zion CME Church, Cross Anchor, SC. He blessed the congregation with a song of inspiration, “My House,” from his album. This church is where Isaac attended growing up. It is where he marked the beginning of his journey towards becoming a skilled singer, as he tapped into his creativity and nurtured his talent by singing in the church’s choirs.

Isaac’s exceptional vocal abilities have propelled him to unprecedented success. He has performed for greats such as Diana Ross and former President George H.W. Bush, and he was honored to sing at the funeral services of Congressman John Lewis.

He refers to Franklin, Tennessee as his “promised land’,” given the substantial progress he has achieved in his profession, along with exposure to unforeseen chances while living there. On a critically acclaimed traditional blues album nominated for a Grammy Award this year, you can hear the accomplished backing vocals of Isaac accompanying the Legendary singer Tracy Nelson.

Isaac has consistently impressed audiences with remarkable performances at different events and showcases in Franklin and surrounding areas. Shortly after moving to Franklin in 2021, he was dubbed as ” Franklin’s Best Dressed Man,” owing to his innovative flair for fashion that set him apart from others in the community. His dedication to fashion led him to be known as Franklin’s Fashion Ambassador, following the introduction of his cutting edge clothing line – IFD Collection that launched at the beginning of the year.

Isaac emphasizes the importance of cultivating one’s gift, self-confidence, and maintaining focus for aspiring singers looking to achieve his level of success. He also adds that professionals starting out in this industry should not assume they will receive payment straight away. Despite inconsistent compensation, enhanced exposure remains a potential benefit. Dillard also believes that when your career aligns with your values and passions, it can lead to both personal fulfillment and financial stability.

Isaac’s Cross Anchor, Enoree, and Woodruff roots hold great significance for him as they have played a crucial role in shaping him into the person he is today. These communities have witnessed his journey, including both struggles and successes. He felt it was only right for him to come home & share his latest accomplishments with them. Through his daily life, songs, and designs, Isaac strives to unite, empower, enlighten, and inspire millions toward a brighter future.
