Slowly opening the glass doors I peered into a somewhat dimly lit building with beautiful melodies sounding in the background where a sparce group of worshippers were singing softly and genuinely songs to the creator. Amidst the music people were voicing their intimate prayers while others were welcoming strangers walking in from a main thoroughfare and, upon their arrival, grasping the hand of someone to pray with them. People from all walks of life were on their knees crying out to God for their very souls and receiving miracle healings, joy overflowing, and demonstrations of God’s love. It was happening twenty-four hours, seven days a week!
This is the vision I received from the Lord in the late nineties. We had just planted Restoration Church of Woodruff and as I began praying for Woodruff and its people, the Lord started to spark a fire for revival through prayer. I didn’t know what to do with this vision. Did it really come from the Lord? How would I know? Was it for the Woodruff area?
Now in 2020, years later, God is shining the light on the vision again and it is heavy on my heart. That is why I feel this vision is for now and for Woodruff. There is so much happening in these times and we need to seek “the Answer” (God). “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land,” from 2 Chronicles 7:14.
It is time to seek the Lord! This is the reason for a 24/7 Week of Prayer beginning Oct. 18 through the 24. The prayer week will be located at Humble Grounds at 132 S. Main St. in Woodruff. Owner Brandy Laney has offered the upstairs of the café to host the 24/7 Week of Prayer. Come on opening night, Sunday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m., for an evening of worship and prayer. Everyone in the community is invited to participate and COVID-19 guidelines will be practiced.
A schedule will be set up with time intervals to span the entire week for continuous prayer. Individuals or groups may sign up to fill the time slot. To sign up, contact Deborah Williams at 864-415-2086, email debbiedwilliams@yahoo.com or on Facebook.
