The Country Meat Center located off Main Street in Woodruff has been in business for a little over two years and has continued to see growth. Just recently they have added a full grocery section, deli, expanded the seafood section and more. It is a one stop shop for all your grocery needs.
With the closing of Bi-Lo this couldn’t come at a better time for the people of Woodruff.
I met with Leslie Cash, who is the office manager for the Country Meat Center, last Friday. She took me on a tour and showed me what was new.
The Country Meat Market still has what they are famous for with their wide selection of meats, seafood, and wild game, but now they also have a full selection of groceries. So, if you are going by to pick up some alligator meat and need paper plates and diapers you can get those too.
They have upright freezers with a wide selection of frozen foods, a new organic section, a section with locally made products, dairy products, pet food, pet supplies, cleaning products and the list goes on. They expanded their produce and bakery sections and added health and beauty products. The seafood department has also been expanded and has a grocery section just for products that are used when preparing fish and seafood.
The new deli section is quite impressive with hot menu items such as rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, chicken tenders, ribs and more. They will also have hot sides like macaroni and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes etc. There are premade sandwiches ready to go, or you can have one made fresh. You can also pick up your dips, sandwich spreads, and dessert cups.
While Leslie was giving me a tour of the new deli section a nice gentleman came up and asked if they had souse meat. Leslie said, “We sure do. I will get you some of that right away.” Now, I have never heard of souse meat before so had to ask Leslie what it was and then had to look up how to properly spell it for this article.
The “official” Grand Opening of the deli is Wednesday, February 17.
Leslie says they are excited about the expansion and are proud to help meet the grocery needs of the people of Woodruff.
