A scary incident for one Woodruff child was no April Fool’s prank as he survived an attack by a fox in his grandparents’ front yard on April 1. Kayden Johnson, the grandson of City Councilwoman Matti Norman and nephew of school board member Sandy Norman, was playing in his grandparents’ front yard when a fox came into the yard and attacked with
no warning.
Kayden’s grandfather and a neighbor heard his cries and rushed to his aid. According to Sandy Norman, the fox turned on the neighbor who was forced to kill the fox for the safety of everyone. Kayden, who before the incident liked wildlife and animals, escaped without significant injuries; however, he did have to go through four rounds of rabies shots as a precaution.

Norman said her nephew was scared by the incident and angry that the fox attacked him. He is now hesitant to go outside and play. He said that he learned that foxes are not your friend and to be careful around wildlife.
