In a touching display of gratitude and respect for our nation’s veterans, Woodruff High School’s Maroon on a Mission and Student Council have joined forces to organize a Field of Flags in commemoration of Veterans Day. This heartfelt initiative serves as an opportunity for the community to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have sacrificed and served to protect our freedoms, always ready to answer the call of duty.

The Field of Flags project will not only offer a visual symbol of appreciation but also provide a platform for remembrance. The names of these dedicated veterans will be thoughtfully listed on the Spartanburg School District 4 website and featured in The Woodruff Times newspaper, ensuring their service and sacrifices are never forgotten.

Beyond the meaningful gesture, the organizers have pledged to make a substantial impact by directing the proceeds from the flag sales to two esteemed organizations, The Wounded Warrior Project and Disabled American Veterans. By supporting these causes, the Woodruff community will extend their appreciation to veterans and assist those who may need help after their service.

The Field of Flags, representing a powerful unity of purpose, will be displayed in the front of Woodruff High School, serving as a symbol of honor and gratitude for all to see.

Individuals who wish to participate in this tribute can purchase flags for a modest $5 each at the Woodruff High School front office. The office will be open daily from 8 am to 3 pm, providing an accessible window to contribute to this inspiring cause until November 9.

This collaborative effort by Maroon on a Mission, Student Council, and the Woodruff community demonstrates the profound respect and support for veterans. It’s a testament to the unwavering commitment to those who have given so much to safeguard our nation’s freedoms. Veterans Day is November 11, 2023.
