The Holiday Food Grab held at Woodruff Elementary School was a resounding success. The effort provided critical support to local families in Spartanburg School District Four during the winter break. On December 22 and December 29, organizers distributed approximately 6,615 breakfast packs and 6,615 lunch packs, helping ensure students had access to nutritious meals while out of school on winter break.

The large-scale effort was made possible through the dedication of community volunteers who worked together to ensure an efficient and welcoming distribution. Volunteers included Makenzie Norris, Zelenskyy Dickard, and Conner Davis, Woodruff High School football players; Emily Lanford of Luck Stone; Jonathan and Julie Smoak, parents of WHS students; Maggie and Eden Smoak, Woodruff High School and The Scholars Academy students; Joy Mitchell, teacher at Woodruff Elementary School; and Officer Darrell Dawkins, school resource officer with the Woodruff City Police Department. Support was also provided by Woodruff Church of God and First Baptist Enoree.

Food for the event was provided by Spartanburg School District Four, in partnership with Taylor Boys Produce and Country Meat Center, whose contributions were essential to the program’s success.

Organizers are now planning for the summer food distribution program and are seeking volunteers to assist with future efforts. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact Audra Terry, Food Service Director for Spartanburg School District Four, at 864-476-3186 or by email at aterry@Spartanburg4.org.

“The Holiday Food Grab reflects the power of collaboration and generosity in meeting the needs of families in our school district,” said Audra Terry.
