WOODRUFF, S.C. — Community pride and environmental stewardship will take center stage later this month as the City of Woodruff hosts a community cleanup on Saturday, March 21, launching the statewide #SCSweep initiative.

The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, with volunteers meeting at Woodruff City Hall, located at 231 East Hayne Street. Residents, families, civic groups, and community volunteers are encouraged to participate in efforts to keep the city clean and welcoming.

The event marks the beginning of #SCSweep, a statewide litter cleanup campaign running March 21 through March 30, organized in partnership with community groups and environmental organizations across South Carolina. The initiative encourages residents to take an active role in beautifying their neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces.

Organizers say the Woodruff cleanup is an opportunity for the community to work together while demonstrating pride in the city.

Volunteers interested in participating can register online using the following link:

Residents who would like to organize their own cleanup event during the SC Sweep campaign are also encouraged to get involved. For more information or to coordinate a cleanup effort, individuals can contact organizers at eurban@spartanburgcounty.org.

Organizers say they look forward to partnering with residents and volunteers to help keep Woodruff clean, vibrant, and beautiful.

The cleanup is part of a broader effort supported by organizations including Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful, Keep South Carolina Beautiful, PalmettoPride, and Keep America Beautiful, all of which promote environmental responsibility and community engagement.

Community leaders say events like the Woodruff cleanup demonstrate the power of local action.

“Every bag of litter collected and every volunteer who shows up helps make our community stronger,” organizers said. “It’s a simple way for residents to show their love for where they live.”

Residents are encouraged to bring friends and family, and to be willing to help make a difference in Woodruff.
