Spring Turkey Season Underway Across South Carolina
Turkey season is underway across South Carolina, bringing hunters into the woods in search of one of spring’s most challenging and rewarding game birds.
Season Dates and Regulations
The statewide season typically begins in early April and runs through early May, with specific dates varying slightly by region.
Hunters are reminded that a valid hunting license and turkey tags are required, and only gobblers (male turkeys) may be harvested during the spring season.
South Carolina allows hunters to take up to two gobblers per season, but only one per day.
Safety Remains a Top Priority
As always, safety remains a top priority. Hunters should be certain of their target, wear appropriate gear when moving locations, and be aware of others.
Why Turkey Hunting is a Tradition
Wild turkeys are known for their keen eyesight and cautious behavior, making them a favorite among experienced hunters.
Early mornings are often the most productive time, as gobblers are more active and responsive to calls.
