Woodruff Expands City Limits by Over 250 Acres
Woodruff added more than 250 acres to the city limits with the approval of two annexation requests at their March meeting.
The Council voted to approve the second reading for the annexation of just more than 53 acres on Miller Road for a housing development already in progress. The development will have about 180 homes when it’s built out.
They also approved the second reading for the annexation of approximately 205 acres of land on Highway 221, which was requested by the owner. There is no current plan for development on the property.
April Declared Fair Housing Month
In new business, the Council approved a resolution declaring April as Fair Housing Month. The declaration is an annual approval by the Council, which is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in order to be eligible for various grants and other housing programs.
Fair Housing Month promotes equality in housing availability and promotes education of fair housing issues and programs for those who feel they may have been wronged.
Sewer Line Extension Contract Approved
The Council passed a resolution allowing the city manager to enter into a contract related the sewer line extension along Highway 221. The project is part of a grant the city received for $1 million to cover the cost.
Upcoming City Council Meeting
Woodruff City Council meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at city hall. The meetings are open to the public and the next meeting will be held on April 28.
