Storybook Characters Come to Life on Campus
Woodruff Primary School brought imagination to life on Friday, April 3, 2026, as it wrapped up it’s Children’s Book Week celebration with a vibrant and joyful Storybook Character Parade.
The campus was filled with excitement as students, dressed as their favorite literary characters, proudly paraded along the school grounds. From classic storybook figures to modern favorites, each costume reflected the creativity and enthusiasm that Children’s Book Week inspires in young readers.
Parade Led by Community and School Leaders
Leading the parade was Officer Dawkins, who set the tone for the celebration with a strong and spirited presence. Close behind, the drum line section of the Wolverine Marching Cadets delivered an energetic performance that echoed through the atmosphere, officially kicking off the festivities with rhythm and pride.
Community Effort Brings Event Together
The event was a true community effort, bringing together administrators, teachers, and dedicated volunteers from Woodruff High School, members of WHO (Wolverines Helping Others). These student volunteers played an important role in supporting the younger children, helping guide the parade and encouraging participation with smiles and enthusiasm.
As the parade made its way along the route, students eagerly greeted onlookers with cheerful waves, bright smiles, and even a few heartfelt hugs. Their excitement was contagious, creating an atmosphere filled with joy, connection, and a shared love for reading.
Celebrating the Power of Storytelling
Children’s Book Week at Woodruff Primary School was a reminder of the power of storytelling to bring people together, spark imagination, and build a lifelong love of learning. The Storybook Character Parade was a fitting finale, leaving lasting memories for students, staff, and the entire Woodruff community.
