WOODRUFF — Newly released U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the City of Woodruff continues to experience rapid growth, with the city’s estimated population increasing more than 40 percent since 2020.
According to 2025 population estimates, Woodruff’s population has reached approximately 6,026 residents, compared to a 2020 Census population of 4,212. The figures represent an estimated increase of 1,734 residents in just five years.
The newest estimates also show significant growth between 2024 and 2025 alone. The city’s estimated population in July 2024 was listed at 5,072 before increasing to 6,026 in July 2025.
The growth comes as Woodruff continues to see residential development, infrastructure expansion, and increased business activity throughout the area.
Woodruff Demographics Continue to Shift
Census data shows approximately 25.1 percent of Woodruff residents are under the age of 18, while 15.2 percent are age 65 or older. The city’s population is estimated to be 46.3 percent female.
The report estimates Woodruff’s racial makeup as:
- 67.3% White
- 21.3% Black (a)
- 14.4% Hispanic or Latino (b)
- 6.3% identifying as two or more races

Housing, Income and Household Statistics
Housing and income data also provide a snapshot of the city’s changing demographics and economy.
According to the report:
- Median household income in Woodruff is estimated at $70,959
- Median home value is estimated at $204,800
- Median monthly rent is estimated at $810
- Approximately 54.3% of housing units are owner-occupied
The Census estimates show Woodruff had approximately 1,942 households between 2020 and 2024, with an average of 2.27 persons per household.
Technology and Education Data
Technology access within the city also remains high, with an estimated 95.6 percent of households having a computer and 92.7 percent having broadband internet access.
Education statistics show approximately 84.6 percent of residents age 25 and older are high school graduates, while 19.1 percent hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Economic and Transportation Statistics
Economically, the report estimated Woodruff retail sales totaled more than $75.7 million in 2022, with retail sales per capita estimated at $17,078.
Transportation data showed the average commute time for workers age 16 and older was approximately 27.8 minutes.
The report also estimated 14.2 percent of residents are living below the poverty line, while 10.6 percent of residents under age 65 are without health insurance.
Woodruff’s land area was listed at 4.58 square miles in the 2020 Census, compared to 3.91 square miles in 2010.
The estimates were released as part of the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual population and community survey updates.
