Woodruff Church of God and Love1 Ministries will host a free youth event Saturday, Aug. 8, for students in seventh grade through college age. Doors open at 4:30 pm and services start at 6:00 pm.
Jason Tucker, founder and director of Love1 Ministries and youth pastor at Woodruff Church of God, said the event was created to spread the Gospel and offer young people something lasting in which to place their hope and trust.
“These teens are looking for something to hold onto, something to trust—something that will never leave nor forsake them,” Tucker said. “So, let’s do an event and point them to Christ.”
The event will include worship, a message from Tucker, free food, drinks, icy treats and sweets. Students may also enjoy the church’s basketball and volleyball courts and soccer field.
Churches from across the Upstate have committed to participate. Tucker emphasized that the gathering is open to everyone and is not limited to a particular denomination.
“This is not a particular denomination event—this is a Jesus event,” Tucker said. “Don’t let small differences in what folks believe keep you from a blessing.”
The event is completely free, reflecting the message of Matthew 10:8: “Freely you have received; freely give.”
“Jesus freely gave His life for us, and we want this event to reflect that same spirit of generosity,” Tucker said.
Tucker hopes students will begin, renew or deepen their relationship with Christ.
“If one student finds Christ, finds hope, realizes there is a different way and begins a lifelong relationship with Him, it’s all worth it,” he said.
Registration is preferred but not required. Visit Love1 Ministries, select the “Event” tab and register. The event will be held at Woodruff Church of God, 6385 S.C. Highway 101 in Woodruff.
