GREENVILLE, S.C. — J.L. Mann guard Zealand Keyser made his presence known among some of South Carolina’s top high school basketball talent, earning Class of 2027 MVP honors at the Phenom Hoops South Carolina Top 80.
The 6-foot-1 guard delivered an impressive performance at the showcase, averaging 21.7 points per game, the second-highest scoring average among players at the event. Phenom Hoops officially named Keyser the 2027 MVP following his performance.
But Keyser’s impact went beyond scoring.
Phenom Hoops highlighted his ability to score from multiple levels while also creating opportunities for teammates. Evaluators noted his confidence as a shooter, ability to attack the basket and court awareness, particularly his passing in transition.
Keyser, a member of the Class of 2027 at J.L. Mann High School, is listed as a shooting guard/point guard and also competes on the AAU circuit with Next Level Elite.
His MVP performance provides another boost to his profile as he enters an important stretch of his high school career. Competing against a field assembled from top prospects across South Carolina, Keyser showed he could not only score at a high level but also facilitate and make plays for others.
