THE WOODRUFF TIMES | BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
For students and families, navigating the college admissions process can feel overwhelming. Troy Childress, founder of The Long Game College Advising, is working to make that journey easier by helping students prepare for their futures one step at a time.
Childress brings a unique combination of military service, education, and coaching experience to his business. He served eight years in the United States Air Force as a firefighter and has spent the past 20 years working with students.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Communications, a Master of Arts in Leadership, and a Master of Arts in School Counseling. He has also coached football, baseball, and softball and currently coaches golf.
Through The Long Game College Advising, Childress helps students and families navigate the college planning process with a focus on each student’s individual strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
His approach emphasizes preparation, consistency, and helping young people take ownership of their futures. Rather than treating college planning as a one-size-fits-all process, Childress works to make each step manageable while providing families with guidance and encouragement.
With decades of experience mentoring young people, Childress hopes to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as they prepare for their next chapter.
The Long Game College Advising operates under a simple philosophy:
“Your future. Your fit. Your long game.”
For families preparing for the college journey, Childress offers an approach built on experience, personal attention, and a commitment to student success.
