The Daily Word
A little wordplay. A fresh challenge. Six guesses to find today’s five-letter word.
Use the buttons above or your keyboard while the game is focused. Enter submits; Backspace deletes. Guesses must be five-letter words in our word list. Invalid words and repeated guesses do not use an attempt; the timer keeps running.
Scoring: Solve to earn 1,000 points, minus 100 for each guess after your first, plus a speed bonus of up to 300 points (300 minus elapsed seconds, minimum zero). Unsolved games earn 0. The timer keeps running while you are away.
How to play the daily word puzzle
- Enter a player name and press Start. The timer begins immediately.
- Type five letters using the on-screen buttons or your keyboard, then press Enter.
- Green means the letter is in the correct spot. Gold means it belongs elsewhere in the word. Gray means there is no remaining match for that letter.
- Use the clues to solve the word within six guesses. Fewer guesses and a faster finish earn more points.
