Like most events during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Woodruff’s Music at McKinney concert series has been postponed.
The first show of the season was scheduled for May 15 and was to feature the Entertainers Band.
The City of Woodruff is waiting for Governor Henry McMaster to lift the requirement on public facilities to know how to proceed.
“City Council and staff are looking at every option,” said Lee Bailey, city manager. “We have not made the decision to cancel the concerts series.”
The concert series, typically held in the spring and summer months, is funded through the hospitality tax imposed at local restaurants. “With this pandemic everything has been affected but the restaurants have taken one of the hardest hits on sales,” says Bailey.
At press time, the City was in the middle of budget season to determine the budget for fiscal year 2020 – 2021, which begins on July 1, 2020. Bailey says he will forecast the revenue and make recommendations to staff and city council on the number of concerts that may be possible for the next fiscal year.
