The S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed that it opened a preliminary inquiry based on a complaint received regarding the Woodruff police chief, Greg Ryan.
SLED is working with the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy to investigate the allegations made in the complaint. No specifics were provided as to what the complaint was.
The City of Woodruff is aware of the preliminary investigation and “supports Chief Ryan and the entire police department during this time,” as stated in a press release from the City.
Chief Ryan will remain on active duty during the investigation.
