WOODRUFF — The first annual Rylie K. Sloan FCA Scholarship Fundraiser will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, at The Church at The Mill, located at 517 Cross Anchor Road in Woodruff.
The event will raise money for a yearly scholarship established by Coach Jim and Wanda Howard in honor of their granddaughter, Rylie K. Sloan. The scholarship is awarded through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Woodruff High School.
Rylie was a member of the Woodruff High School Class of 2025. During her time at WHS, she lettered in track, competed as a cheerleader, participated in FCA and became a regional champion in pole vault. She was a member of Bellview Baptist Church and was also active at The Church at The Mill.
Rylie and her mother were killed July 1, 2022, in a crash caused by a drunk driver. According to event organizers, the driver responsible for the crash was sentenced to 75 years in prison on Aug. 11, 2025.
The fundraiser will include barbecue plates offered for donations from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Raffle drawings will take place around 3 p.m., and attendees must be present to win door prizes.
Raffle Prizes
A wide variety of raffle prizes will be available, including a set of four tires mounted and balanced by Waters Tires, a Dick Butkus autographed jersey, a 43-inch propane griddle, a battery-powered mini bike, Clemson and University of South Carolina collectible packages, a Tony Rice autographed football, a 60-quart rolling cooler, a crossbow, a $250 QT gas card, a 50-inch Vizio Smart TV, a gun safe and several gift baskets.
Raffle tickets range from $5 to $20, depending on the item.
Supporting the Rylie Sloan Scholarship Fund
All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Rylie Sloan Scholarship Fund. Tax-deductible financial donations may also be mailed to the Rylie Sloan Scholarship Fund, 314 Josephine Drive, Woodruff, SC 29388.
