On Sunday, August 9, 2026, Beaverdam Baptist Church was filled with faith, love, and celebration as Rev. Dr. Vareva Harris preached her initial sermon under the leadership of Pastor, Rev. Dr. O.T. Hill.
With confidence and conviction, Rev. Dr. Harris stood before the congregation and delivered a powerful message entitled “Raise Your Hand If You’re Sure.” Her presence behind the pulpit reflected a woman who was confident in her faith and ready to embrace the calling God has placed upon her life.
Surrounding Rev.Dr. Harris were friends, family members, classmates, and genuine supporters who came to witness and celebrate this significant milestone. Their presence represented the love, encouragement, and support that have been a part of her journey.
Following her sermon, Rev. Dr. Harris proudly received her license to ministry, marking another important step in her journey of faith and ministry. With pride and gratitude, she accepted the license as a symbol of her commitment to serve God and his people.
“Preaching my initial sermon at Beaverdam Baptist Church was both an honor and a privilege. I love sharing the Word of God through teaching and preaching. God has been faithful and exceedingly good to me throughout my life, and it is my heart’s desire to help others discover the transformative power of God through Christ Jesus. I am especially grateful for the unwavering support of my husband, Windell Harris; my parents, Rev. Dr. Catherine Evans and Carroll Wayne Evans; my pastor, Rev. Dr. O. T. Hill; the entire Beaverdam Baptist Church family as well as the Woodruff and Enoree communities. Their prayers, encouragement, and love have mean so much to me. I am excited about this new journey and eagerly anticipate the opportunities God will provide to share His Word, encourage others, and make a meaningful impact for His Kingdom.” she stated.
The occasion was more than the preaching of an initial sermon; it was a celebration of purpose, perseverance, and answered faith. Harris stood boldly, preached confidently, and walked away from the pulpit licensed to continue the work to which she has been called.
