COLUMBIA — South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond is accepting nominations for charitable organizations to be recognized through the state’s 2026 Angel Awards.
Each year, the Secretary of State’s Office honors several organizations as “Angels” based on their service to South Carolina communities and their responsible use of charitable contributions.
Angel Award Qualifications
Organizations considered for the recognition generally use at least 80 percent of their contributions for charitable services, have operated for three years or longer, make effective use of volunteers and do not rely heavily on government grants or professional fundraisers. Honorees must also comply with the South Carolina Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act.
Nomination letters should include the organization’s name, location or contact information and an explanation of why it should be recognized as an Angel.

The deadline to submit nominations is Sept. 30.
Charitable Organization Information
Information about charitable organizations, professional fundraisers and raffles is available at sos.sc.gov. Donors may also use the free Give Smart SC mobile app to determine whether a charity is registered to solicit donations in South Carolina and review information from its most recent annual financial report.
