Rodeo season is upon us. The cowboys, the calf roping, the barrel racing and my favorite—the bull riding.
Eight seconds. Eight long seconds to try to stay on a 2,000-pound bucking bull with only one hand. It is said to be the most dangerous eight seconds in sports. It is the ultimate test of bravery.
I couldn’t help but think that life feels like that sometimes. This world is bucking harder than a bull, and you are hanging on for dear life. Many times, we get face-planted in the dirt.
The main thing, just like for the bull rider, is that we get up. If we continue to lie there, we will be destroyed by that bull called life.
Every rodeo has someone there to rescue the bull rider. He puts his very life in the path of that bull to save the rider.
Jesus laid down His life for you and for me. He promises to never leave nor forsake us, according to Hebrews 13:5.
No matter how hard life gets or how many times you get bucked off, look for the hand of Jesus.
Eight seconds. Choose an eternity spent with Jesus!
Until next time…
