Have you ever just been mad … and, frankly, just wanted to STAY mad? So, what do you do in those moments?
Well, I found myself there recently and decided there had to be something in God’s Word that addresses that! Actually, there are several passages. The one that resonates most with me is Hebrews 13:15, which says, “Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise.”
So, not only are we to praise God continually, but it is also called a “sacrifice of praise.” A sacrifice is giving up something you want for the benefit of another. What that translates to for me is this: I give up my anger and give God the complete opposite—my praise, my thanksgiving and my gratitude.
And you know what I get in return? HIS PEACE! That trumps anger every single time!
The next time you are angry or just don’t “feel like being nice,” remember: Your feelings don’t get the final say. Go back to what you know—the Word. It will lead to peace every single time and turn that frown upside down!
Give God your sacrifice of praise. I’ll join you!
Until next time …
