The Subway at 1781 Asheville Highway in Spartanburg received C grades on five inspections between September 9 and October 9, 2026, according to South Carolina Department of Agriculture reports.
Inspectors documented repeated concerns involving improper food temperatures, food debris on a deli slicer, refrigeration problems, freezer leaks and damaged food containers. Other findings included dishwashing water below the required temperature, missing restroom hand-drying supplies and a missing required backflow-prevention device on a tea machine.
The reports also documented improvements. Employees discarded food cited for improper temperatures on September 24. On October 1, all observed cold-held foods measured 41°F or below. By October 9, the problem cooler was unplugged and out of use.
However, unresolved violations remained at the latest inspection reviewed. The reports required additional follow-up. These findings reflect conditions on the inspection dates; the restaurant’s grade may change following subsequent inspections.
